The Kolkata office of Khaitan & Co., one of India’s oldest and most respected law firms, is more than just a workplace-it is a spatial homage to over a century of legal legacy. Located at the very site where the firm began its journey, the office blends timeless British-influenced architectural cues with refined modernity, creating a space that resonates with history, prestige, and purpose.
Khaitan & Co. sought a space that would reflect its rich heritage while aligning with the evolving expectations of a new generation of legal professionals. The brief called for:

We decluttered the building & incorporated elements such as solid wood finishes, arched detailing, monochromatic stone flooring, and rich textures that exude authority and refinement. Contemporary lighting, modular meeting zones, and ergonomic workspaces were introduced to ensure functionality met form. Subtle nods to Kolkata’s legal and architectural heritage are embedded throughout making the space not just an office, but a living narrative of Khaitan & Co.’s journey. The result is a timeless, contextual office that honours legacy while embracing the future-a place where tradition meets transformation.
